Coimbatore: Anganwadi workers and members of the Women Self-Help Group petitioned the District Collector K Rajamani seeking immediate permission to operate the Anganwadi Center located in MGR Nagar which belongs to the Karamadai Panchayat, in Mettupalayam at a new location.

The petitioners stated that the Anganwadi Center was operated in a private land in MGR Nagar by the Self-Help Groups since 2012. "There were more than 30 children enrolled but they had to travel up the steep road to the Anganwadi Center. Due to improper road access and unhealthy conditions, the number of children enrolling at the Center has reduced.
Parents are willing to enroll their children in Anganwadi and at present there are up to 20 children. Hence, the appeal to the District Collector to take appropriate measures to relocate the Anganwadi Center somewhere nearby in the same area," requested the petitioners.
