Coimbatore: Two tiger enthusiasts from the city are all geared up to embark on an epic 25,000 km trip from Kerala to Cannes through 25 countries in 65 days for spreading the message of tiger conservation.
Coimbatore: Two tiger enthusiasts from the city are all geared up to embark on an epic 25,000 km trip from Kerala to Cannes through 25 countries in 65 days for spreading the message of tiger conservation.
Commemorating World Tiger Day today, the Wild Tiger Foundation collaborating with the CMS College, Chinnavedampatti have organized this epic road trip to not only spread awareness on tiger conservation but to also raise funds for the same.
Tiger enthusiasts working in a duty-free industry Gautom Menon, Founder and Chief Brand Officer of Wild Tiger Rum and Wild Tiger Foundation and Brand Creative Head Paul George will be the co-pilots on this epic Roar Trip.The city's globe trotter on wheels, Meenakshi Arvind flagged off the road trip which will culminate on September 28. The duo's journey in a Tata Hexa will serve as an awareness campaign for tiger conservation.
"At the turn of the 19th century, 1,00,000 wild tigers roamed the planet. But today the figure is less than 4000 on the planet and less than 2200 in India. It is time we act to prevent the rapid depletion of the tiger population," stated Gautom. The journey that has kick-started from Coimbatore will cover various states in India and countries like China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Estonia, Latvia,Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy and France.
The funds raised on this trip is expected to equip our unsung heroes - the anti-poaching watch squad and forest guards, as well as help educate local communities, support cutting-edge wildlife research and activate context-specific conservation models across regions in Parambikulam in Kerala and Sathyamangalam in Tamil Nadu.
