DVK President Kolathur Mani condemns arrest of DVK secretary over a Facebook post

Coimbatore: The arrest of the District Secretary of the Dravida Viduthalai Kazhagam over a recent Facebook post was strongly condemned by its President Kolathur Mani.

Coimbatore: The arrest of the District Secretary of the Dravida Viduthalai Kazhagam over a recent Facebook post was strongly condemned by its President Kolathur Mani.

In a press statement, Kolathur Mani said that the police and the judicial departments have misread the thoughts and opinions posted on Facebook even though they are not meant to disrupt peace in the society. 

He alleged that the same departments which took no action when communal elements vandalized Periyar statues but proceeded against the DVK leader in all urgency and arrested him.

“All charges then were dropped on the premise of oral apology by the courts but the same leniency was followed in the present case” Kolathur Mani charged.

Mani also condemned that the Police took no action against the ones who spoke against women journalists and degraded them in public.

Kolathur Mani also alleged that the police department had arrested “Thozhar” M.P Manikandan after forcibly obtaining complaint from the respective Village Administrative Officer.
