Coimbatore : The annual 'Aadi Kundam' festival of Mettupalayam Vana Badrakaliamman temple commenced with religious fervour and pomp on Sunday.
Coimbatore : The annual 'Aadi Kundam' festival of Mettupalayam Vana Badrakaliamman temple commenced with religious fervour and pomp on Sunday.
The festival flag was hoisted at the temple and special poojas were held at the Muthamil Vinayagar temple. The traditional practice of installing a Kambam (pole) made of bamboo with carvings of a lion from Thekkampatti village took place ahead of the festival flag hoisting.
Following the ritual, the devotees took part in processions carrying flowers, clothes, fruits as offering to the Goddess. Special yaagams and abhishegams were carried out by Sivachariyars.
Thousands of devotees thronged the temple to seek the blessings of the goddess.
