Coimbatore : The Mettupalayam police today arrested Rahamathullah, a popular lottery seller in Mettupalayam. The police acted on information that the lottery sales have been going on besides being banned in Tamilnadu.
Coimbatore : The Mettupalayam police today arrested Rahamathullah, a popular lottery seller in Mettupalayam. The police acted on information that the lottery sales have been going on besides being banned in Tamilnadu.
The arrest was made while the police were on patrol. The patrol was headed by Mettupalayam Inspector Sennakesavan, Training Deputy Commissioner Thenmozhi Vel, Sub Inspector Rajendra Prasad and they were on the move in Katoor Sudha Colony. Based on suspicion the police arrested Rahamathullah (S/O Mohammad Ibrahim), aged 41 for further investigation.
Upon further investigation, the police determined that Rahamathullah was a popular lottery seller in the area. He had in his procession 52 Kerala lottery tickets, Rs. 28,600 in cash and both were confiscated. The police have booked him for Illegal sale of Lottery tickets and for threatening to murder Sub Inspector. He was produced before Judge Saravanan in Mettupalayam Court and has been remanded for 15 days.
