Coimbatore : With an aim of promoting 5s and quality circle principles among textile industries and their employees, Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI) and Indian Texpreneurs Forum (ITF) had jointly organized the second edition of "National Textile Conclave" here.
Coimbatore : With an aim of promoting 5s and quality circle principles among textile industries and their employees, Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI) and Indian Texpreneurs Forum (ITF) had jointly organized the second edition of "National Textile Conclave" here.
About 150 delegates from over 105 Textile industries participated in the conclave which had eight technical sessions. Experts from various textile industries made presentations on topics like 'Best HR Practices', 'Sustainable Production', 'Optimization techniques', 'Waste Minimization' and 'Cutting-edge technologies in textile industry'. There was also a panel discussion by the ITF Board members on 5S System and Quality Circle practices.
In his speech, Prabhu Damodharan, Convener, ITF said "We need to strengthen our basics of TN textile sector by bringing manufacturing excellence, consistentency in quality to match the moving benchmarks. Challenges relating to people management and sustainability needs to be addressed. Through this conclave, experts will throw light on the pressing issues to help industries understand and implement new ideas in production and marketing."
He added that value-added products in the apparel segment and large scale apparel manufacturing will reduce manufacturing cost in basic commodity apparels. "With changes in fibre neutral policy and efforts in market diversification, we can achieve tremendous growth in textile and apparel exports", opined the Convener of ITF.
Dr. N.S.Rajan, CEO IDFC Foundation delivered a special address on "Happiness is the key to success".
"Happy employees deliver 30% more productivity, two times more innovative solutions, thus leading to less attrition rates. Caring and inspiring organizations will attract the best talents and perform better."
He also asserted that to achieve better growth, owners and managers should empower their employees. "They should take the purpose and vision of the organisation to every employee. This culture will increase happiness and productivity", he opined.
He concluded by saying that companies need to focus on employee satisfaction, employee engagement and employee happiness.
As part of the conclave, a special motivational session was held explaining the "The Mumbai Dubbawalas" who are awarded the six sigma standard and also acknowledged all over the world as the 'Error-free manual operation systems carried out by normal manpower without the help of any digital technologies'.
Earlier, Prabhu Damodaran, Convenor ITF, D.K. Srivatsava, Executive Director, QCFI and Dr. Mohanasundari, Chairperson, Coimbatore QCFI chapter inaugurated the event.
