Mohammed Bashir (44), a resident of Vazhapuzha, Palakkad was travelling in the car with a few of the contract workers from North India, working in his construction company. They were proceeding to Kanyakumari on a pleasure trip.
Around 5 am in the morning and when the car was nearing the Vellalore junction, an oncoming truck rammed against the car.
A man and woman who were travelling in the car died on the spot.
Three others who were in the car though were rushed to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital succumbed on the way to the hospital. Another occupant is admitted for treatment.
Sulur police have registered a case and are investigating.
Due to the accident that took place in early morning hours, the oncoming traffic was for more than an hour.
