Coimbatore : In a noble initiative, students of the Kongunadu Arts and Science College had rescued an ailing donkey and sent it to the Mettupalayam veterinary hospital with the help of Snehalaya in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore : In a noble initiative, students of the Kongunadu Arts and Science College had rescued an ailing donkey and sent it to the Mettupalayam veterinary hospital with the help of Snehalaya in Coimbatore.
The students Manojkumar, Sindhu Bharathi, Savitha, Swathi and Francis, had spotted the donkey lying near a dustbin at Gounder Mills.
The donkey seemed in a very bad condition and had remained lying there for two days. Being compassionate on the animal, the five friends have contacted officials from the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) on Wednesday to rescue the animals.
However, their pleas have fell on deaf ears as no one responded to it. They further approached another animal rescue organisation, which too had shut down their plea.
“We later called in people from Snehalaya that runs on the Mettupalayam Road and they immediately sent a rescue van to help the animal,” said one of the students.
The donkey was safely lifted on to the vehicle after being roped and was fed with food and water. It was later shifted to the Mettupalayam Veterinary Hospital for further treatment.
