Coimbatore: In a tragic incident, a 17-year-old college student's suicide attempt ended in a tragedy after she was rammed by an Express train. The passersby rescued the girl who is presently undergoing critical treatment at Coimbatore Government hospital.
Kavitha (name changed) from Villupuram is a first year under graduate student from Rathinam College here. In the wee hours of Thursday, she reportedly had left the hostel and walked towards the railway crossing behind her hostel in the intent to commit suicide.
After she took the extreme step, she laid down on the railway track with her head on the track. However, after she saw an Express train approaching, fear struck her and she changed her mind. She immediately got up and began running to escape from being hit by the train. As the train was at close proximity, she was hit by the train and thrown away.
A few hours later, some passersby noticed her battling for life and immediately rushed her to GH.
