Coimbatore: K Ramakrishnan, the General Secretary of the Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhagam (TPDK) declared that the party will lay siege to the State Bank of India (SBI) branch at the city's railway station and stage a protest on Friday, condemning the cut-off scores announced by the SBI for 8600 clerk job vacancies.

The SBI administration had released a statement pertaining to the reserved cut-off marks for 8600 clerk job vacancies. K Ramakrishnan of TPDK alleged that the cut-off marks for the upper caste who are lagging behind economically has been set as 28 marks. "The SBI which has provided this privilege to the upper caste but the most backward caste is not granted with such a privilege. This is against 97% of our population," he added.
TPDK's General Secretary opined, "When 35 is the pass mark in school subjects, it is a disaster in terms of social justice to set 28 as the cut-off mark for the backward class in general category. We are going to stage a protest by laying siege to the SBI branch at the railway station," he reiterated.
