According to sources, the victim S. Premkumar (32), a constable from the 2009 batch, currently working with the Erode AR division, was inspecting the Glock 17 model 9 mm pistol as a part of the by annual checking, when it accidentally misfired.
The bullet struck him on the left side of the belly and he was immediately taken to the Chamrajnagar Government Hospital for treatment.
Since the injury was serious, he was later shifted to the Mysore Government Hospital and is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit.
