The wild jumbos have been returning to farmlands to raid the crops so many times in the past week and the total loss is put at Rs.5 lakhs
A herd of wild elephants which entered the farmlands of Rajan and Chinnaraja and destroyed over 2000 plantain crops and over 50 coconut trees. Since it was after nightfall, the farmers used torchlights and crackers to drive away the wild elephants back into the forest.
The farmers urged the Forest officials to take expeditious action to check the crop-raiding incidents. They also demanded to compensate adequately for the lost crops.
