Due to the closure of 9 other TASMAC outlets in and around Kothagiri, all the tippler, now, take s refuge in the two liquor shops at Billicombai and Kattabetu causing a lot of disturbance to the day to day lives of the villagers.
The alcoholics are also in the habit of drinking in open areas and litter the bottles on the roadside despite resistance from villagers.
Even though there are the bus station, schools, banks and ration shops near the liquor shops, the tipplers seem least bothered.
In spite of repeated complaints and petitions to the district authorities, no positive action was taken to ameliorate the miseries of the villagers.
In this scenario, the villagers have decided to launch a massive protest and they discussed the issue with the other eight villages in the vicinity to execute their plan of action.
