Speaking at the conference of Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Computing, organised by Confederation of Indian Industry in the city on Tuesday, he said that there may be few job losses initially but it will be overshadowed by the huge potential and scope of the technology, which will create more jobs in the future.
Senthil said today there is a new type of collective intelligence that is emerging, which is enabled by technology. This can be charcterised as not by a connecting a group of computers or people, but by connecting group of computers and group of people.
To support the fact he said the use of artificial intelligence and cloud computing by the big companies like Google, Wikipedia and Amazon, who are investing heavily in AI and Cloud computing, is providing huge information and service to people with touch of a button. This is made possible with the involvement of thousands of people and machines, almost without a centralised control.
In Coimbatore, which is a manufacturing hub and growing at faster pace, will see use of artificial intelligence and cloud computing in an extensive way in the coming days. Though it is an infant stage, the growth in the use of AI, by manufacturing and other companies like financial sectors are going to increase by 60 to 70 per cent in the coming years, Senthil told Simplicity on the sidelines of the conference.
This growth will require more and more informed and skilled people, who can steer the technological advances in these areas to help the manufacturing and other sectors to provide a competitive edge.
Ramesh Babu, managing director Velan Valves India Private Limited, in his special address, said that cloud computing is a destructive technology in the business model and it offers an accelerated approach to the economic growth.
Explaining the benefits, he said it has brought down the cost of service and now using of cloud has brought his expense to half of that was earlier. He further cited that even government have started use of cloud technologies to reach out to the masses.
There is a huge potential to harness the cloud towards perpetrating the benefits of scale and efficiency and low cost to all communities and sections of society.
On artificial intelligence, Ramesh Babu said that it is gradually evolving into a key driver in shaping the day to day businesses process and business intelligence decision making. IT companies are even using the artificial intelligence for screening of candidates.
The artificials intelligence is not going take away the job, but going to make life easier, make the decision much better and faster.
Also in his special address, J Ramadas Menon, Vice President- Technologies and Analytics, explained how their company Bharat Light and Power were able address the issues and provide services to the companies, using the artificial intelligence.
He also explained the gathering about various type of artificial intelligence, which are reactive, with limited memory, theory of mind, which can communicate in intelligent way and those who are self aware and can think like human.
Ramdas said that the use of artificial intelligence growing in the country and it is being adopted in many sectors. While there are certain gray areas, such national security and individual privacy, but there are always antidote that can address the issues, he added.
