Jeeva Nagar at Kaundampalayam had a total of 247 houses on encroached sites out of which 145 have already been evicted by the civic body

Residents who were living in 145 houses have already shifted to Keeranatham Housing unit tenements constructed by the Tamilnadu Slum clearance Board.
Tamilnadu Electricity Board had cut off power connections at Jeeva Nagar last month on the request of CCMC when the residents refused to vacate their houses.

When Corporation officials again went for an eviction operation today there was stiff resistance to it.
Even though a few houses were evicted, despite the resistance the residents pleaded for more time to vacate the premises.
