Coimbatore : As a part of their community service, students and faculties of Business Administration (Business Process Management) from PSGR Krishnammal College for Women joined hands with Nature and Animal Conservancy for a clean drive campaign at Sathyamangalam Tiger reserve forest.
On July 21, around 108 students of the business development department of PSGRKCW took part in the cleaning drive organised by the Forest department and coordinated by Biodiversity Conservation Trust- BCT, Sathyamangalam.
The students involved themselves in cleaning the plastics and other wastes dumped by the tourists in the forest area. The students learnt from the forest officers as to how these plastic wastes turn as a threat to the bio-diversity, especially attributing to the increasing deaths of wild animals.
Large amount of wastes including plastics covers, bottles and plastic food containers were collected by the volunteers. They covered a stretch of 8 kilometers of Dhimbam ghat section.
The collected garbage was handed over to the forest department for disposal. The forest rangers and field staff supervised the activity and ensured safety of the students, due to high wild animal movement along the stretch.
Nandha Kumar, Founder & President of Biodiversity Conservation Trust appreciated the students for their involvement in wildlife conservation.
