Coimbatore: In an attempt to create awareness on afforestation measures, NGO Siruthuli has joined hands with Bharathiar University and Project sponsors ZF Wind Power will be organising a quickfire tree planting programme in which 10,000 saplings would be planted in straight five minutes.
Coimbatore: In an attempt to create awareness on afforestation measures, NGO Siruthuli has joined hands with Bharathiar University and Project sponsors ZF Wind Power will be organising a quickfire tree planting programme in which 10,000 saplings would be planted in straight five minutes.
The mega Green event is planned between 3.00 pm and 4.15 pm on Thursday, July 25 at the Bharathiar University campus here.
Around 5000 volunteers including School, College students and members of the public would be participating in the record-making event.
Breifing on the event, a spokesperson from Siruthuli said that District Collector K. Rajamani and Commissioner of Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation, Shravan Kumar would be the special guests for the occasion, which includes awareness drives and planting.
“We thought of doing quick fire 'Green initiative' on the sidelines of the death anniversary of former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and hence the event is planned,” said the spokesperson.
