Coimbatore: The driver of a Petrol tanker truck Sankar (35) from Rasipuram died on the spot and Rajalingam, the cleaner was grievously injured when the truck dashed against another truck in the Coimbatore - Pollachi highway.

The ongoing traffic was thrown out of gear for two hours due to the accident.
The truck loaded with petrol was coming from Kochi and was proceeding to Salem when the mishap occurred. The lorry loaded with tiles coming from Salem to Kochi hit the tanker near the Karpagam College in Echanari road.
Police recovered the body of Shankar and sent the injured Rajalingam to hospital.
