Coimbatore : In an embarrassing incident, a Travel Ticker Examiner (TTE) and railway police personnel broke into a heated argument at the city railway junction after the TTE kicked the luggage of passenger here on Monday.
The incident occurred when Mariyammal, from Salem was travelling between Coimbatore and Salem around 3.00 pm.
While she was aboard the train, a TTE who was on checking had asked her for the travel ticket, to which she had said that the ticket was with her husband who was travelling in the next compartment.
Irked by her response, the TTE Padmakumar had reportedly used foul language against her and had also kicked her luggage. Padmakumar had also made Mariyammal get down from the train.
Seeing the incident, Veeramuthu, a railway police personnel had intervened and had advised Padmakumar not to behave rudely with passengers. However, Padmakumar did not need to his words and had even threatened him with dire consequences. Padmakumar was supported by two more TTEs in his verbal quarrel.
The trio had left the scene after Veeramuthu warned them that their actions are being monitored by the CCTV in the junction and Mariyammal was left in peace after her husband showed the ticket.
“I travel regularly between Coimbatore and Salem and never have such an incident occurred. This is an embarrassing behaviour from the TTE,” said Mariyammal.
