The Nilgiris : Over 200 members of Badaga community gathered at the District Collectorate on Monday to register their disapproval on the Police department for not initiating action on the gang who assaulted a Badaga youngster, recently.
Recently, a Badaga youngster working in a private finance company in Ooty was attacked by a gang of 20 people who predominantly are from AIADMK party. One of the main gang member, 'boat house' Mohan along with his gang assaulted the youth over a verbal argument for parking his vehicle in front of a jewellery shop that belongs to them.
The youth was severely injured and was admitted to the government hospital in Ooty. "Even after filing a FIR, no arrests were made on this attack", allege the community members in support of the youngster.

Last week, over 100 Badaga people laid siege to the police station and even petitioned to the SP to initiate action against the assaulters.
As no action was taken, the irked community people laid siege at the Collectorate. They later, dispersed after the District Collector assured to look into the issue.
The protesting people warned that if no action is taken, all Badaga people would join together and hold massive protests in Ooty.
