Coimbatore : As a part of the ongoing book festival in Coimbatore, awards were conferred to Writers who have contributed to the world of Tamil literature. This year, the award was conferred on Writer Vannanilavan for his creations like Esther, Kadalpurathil, Reinees Iyer Theru, Kambhanadhi and others. The award carries a citation and prize money of Rs. 1 lakh.

Conferring the award to Vannanilavan, Kalapriya one of the writer in her felicitation address said "Coimbatore always holds the distinction of being the first in recognising artists. It is matter of pride for the people of Tirunelveli to see Vannanilavan being conferred with this award. Vannanilavan never boasts of his literary skills. His stories are deep and realistic. Famous writers like Ashokamithran, Janakiraman have appreciated his stories. The characters of the novel, Esther and Philomena will always live in the hearts of the readers".
Vannanilavan in his speech, expressed his gratitude to the organisers for conferring this award.
Writers Nanjilnathan, Vannadhasan, S.Venugopal, and M. Gopalakrishnan and others were present on the occasion.
