Coimbatore: In a daring daylight burglary burglars broke open a house and looted 167 sovereigns of gold ornaments, 5 kg of silver articles and also took away 1.5 lakhs cash from a studio owner's house.
The incident in which the burglars looted a house in broad daylight has shocked the pshyche of city residents.
Ramesh Kumar son of Dhamodaran is from Vellakinaru Pirivu near Thudiyalur. He has left for Palakkad along with his family members yesterday morning. When he returned home in the evening he was shocked to see the back door of his house ajar and his house looted.
The burglars who entered the house have broken the safety lockers and took away 167 sovereigns of gold, 5 kg of silvers items and Rs. 1.5 lakhs . Shocked by the incident Ramesh Kumar filed a complaint at Thudiyalur Police Station.
Sniffer dogs and Fingerprint experts were pressued into to service at the crime spot. Police are scrutinising CCTV footages from the Vellakinaru pirivu area. A hunt is lauched to nab the culprits.
Even though the police are on constant vigil, the rise in cases of burglary and theft incidents in the city have become a cause for concern for the general public.
