Coimbatore: Hundreds of like-minded public, NGOs and the City Corporation joined hands on Sunday, to clean up the lake and bunds of Sengulam in Kuniamuthur.
Coimbatore: Hundreds of like-minded public, NGOs and the City Corporation joined hands on Sunday, to clean up the lake and bunds of Sengulam in Kuniamuthur.

Spread over 250 acres, the Sengulam in it's pristine condition is believed to recharge the ground water in and around Kuniamuthur area. However, continous dumping of wastes in the lake has made the lake progressively worse.
Living up to the proverb, "Better safe than sorry", the spirited people rolled up their sleeves and commenced the cleaning drive, during which 2 tonnes of wastes including plastic and glass bottles and household wastes were cleared.

Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer, Shravan Kumar also took part in the cleaning drive along with the people.

The participation and dedication of young children in the cleaning drive, surely will infuse a sense of cleanliness among the people.
