"My daughter was pushed to commit suicide by the college", say parents of late boxing champion from Coimbatore

Coimbatore: Parents of Eureka, a boxing champion and engineering student of a private college from the city who recently committed suicide have petitioned the Chief Minister to probe the case and alleged that their daughter was pushed to take the extreme step due to College management.

B. Eureka (19), a resident of Poosaripalayam, Coimbatore was pursuing her third-year Mechanical Engineering at Rathinam Institute of Engineering and Technology, here. She was an aspiring boxer since childhood and has participated in several district, state and national level competitions.

On July 1, Eureka committed suicide by consuming pesticide. While Police sources say that she committed suicide after her parents denied to accept her request to allow her to quit from her college and re-join another college, the parents of the boxer has another version to her suicide. 

Today, Eureka's parents met the CM, Edapadi K Palanisamy at the city airport and handed him a petition demanding legal action on the college management and the staff for pushing their daughter to suicide.

In the petition the parents accused that Physical Trainer Balamurugan, Principal Sivakumar, HOD Raja Shankar, Dept Professor Shahjahan of Rathinam College did not allow her to continue her sports training and pushed her into depression. They also labelled her as a dalit and ill-treated her which ultimately led to her suicide.
