Coimbatore : Forest officials of the Boluvampatti Range on Saturday closed tourism at Kovai Kuttralam due to heavy floods.
The facility that was opened last Friday after a gap of more than 100 days, was once again closed as water level increased due to rain.
The catchment area has been receiving ample amount of rainfall which increased water level at the falls. However, the dam was not flooded for a week’s time and the level of water was reportedly high on Thursday.
Rains continued to pour in the catchment area and it was decided to not open the facility for tourists. Most of the tourists who arrived at the spot early on the day were in for disappointment because of the closure.
Meanwhile, officials have claimed that the closure would be extended depending upon the rainfall and water level.
