Over 30 members of the Islamic outfits met the Commissioner, Sumit Saran and urged for action against goondas attacking Islamic youth.
Citing incidences of violence against a minority youth in the city, the petitioners have said that Jaffer Arafat, a Muslim youth was brutally attacked by a gang after he was waylaid on July 7, which triggered fear psychosis among Islamic youth.
In yet another incident, two minority youth Sheik and Shafiullah have been jailed based on a false complaint given by a woman Ruskhana.
“It is also painful that the jailed youth have been forced to shave off their beard which is a religious symbol” the petitioners stated in their petition.
The petitioners also urged that proper action should be initiated against erring police officials who are guilty of dereliction of duty.
