Indian textile Federation to launch 'Leadership academy'

Coimbatore: Indian Textile Federation (ITF) is inaugurating a leadership academy at the PSG I-Tech campus today. The association with more than 650 members is launching this initiative to create robust leadership qualities for the employees of the member organisations.

Briefing on the launch, Prabhu Damodaran, Convenor of ITF in a press interaction held at The Hotel Residency today said that the academy will be inaugurated by Shiv Khera, renowned author and Business Consultant.



He added that "Textile industry is facing a range of issues across various stages of operation - be it energy management or attrition issues. Though technology can help to address certain issues but the key lies in managing 'Humans'. That's when, the role of 'Leadership' skills becomes inevitable. Not just leadership levels at top level management but it trickles down to supervisors who handle the manpower directly."

Elaborating on the programme, Prabhu Damodaran said "To train people from Managing Directors to Supervisors, ITF is launching a Leadership academy to conduct training programmes. To start with, 51 units from across the state are participating in the first batch which will happen throughout the year. A total of 12 classes per year has been scheduled for four different categories - Managing Directors, General Managers, Mid level Managers and Supervisors."



Prabhu talked about the various problems faced by the industry and the steps taken by the association to address the issues. “Gone are the those days, when competitors were at our next door. Today, we face stiff competition from.neighbouring countries like Vietnam or Bangladesh."

"Indian textile Federation, as an association have realised to work collectively as a forum to address the issues by conducting surveys and collecting data. The data has helped us derive at better solutions, than before. To carry out things with professional ace, we are launching this academy to train people. The expenses for which are shared among the member industries” added Prabhu.
