Coimbatore: The service mindedness of two traffic police officials who rolled up their sleeves and got down to action to help resume traffic after draining the rain waters in the Lanka corner subway here has garnered praise from many public-spirited residents of the city.
Coimbatore: The service mindedness of two traffic police officials who rolled up their sleeves and got down to action to help resume traffic after draining the rain waters in the Lanka corner subway here has garnered praise from many public-spirited residents of the city.
Water logging has been a perennial problem afflicting the subway of the Lanka corner bridge. As the bridge connects many parts of the city, thousands of vehicles including ambulances pass through the bridge to reach their destinations.
When the rains lashed last evening the road space beneath the Lanka corner bridge was flooded as usual. Ongoing traffic came to a dead halt due to waterlogging due to clogged sewage debris.
Two Sub inspectors (Traffic wing) Pandi and John Kennedy who was regulating traffic near the bridge rushed to the spot and help drain the rain waters in the subway by clearing the sewage, after which the traffic was immediately resumed.
The gesture of the traffic cops who did not wait for the corporation staff to arrive at the scene to clear the clogged sewage but decided to help out themselves attracted the appreciation of many.
“Inspector Pandi took a big stick and poked in the drainage holes to help drain the rain waters, without bothering about the surrounding filth and bad odor, which is really commendable” said one of the motorists who witnesssed the act last evening.
