Coimbatore : The State President of SDPI, Nellai Mubarak has urged the Central government to remove the special law that has been placed for the NIA.
Coimbatore : The State President of SDPI, Nellai Mubarak has urged the Central government to remove the special law that has been placed for the NIA.
At the District level SDPI meeting held today at Ukadam, issues faced by the minority communities were discussed.
While addressing the media, Nellai Mubarak, the State President said that "In the be of investigation, the NIA has been harassing Muslim and other minoritiy communities. The State and the Centre have bestowed autonomous powers to the NIA. Even in the recent session in the Parliament, it was unanimously agreed to give full freedom for the NIA."
He added that by giving autonomous power to the NIA they get an upper hand to torture minority communities through raids and inquiries. He urged that the State and Central government need to revisit the decision of according so much power to the NIA.
Talking about Suez drinking water contract, he pointed that many areas in the city are not been provided with drinking water due to ongoing works by the French company. "Hence, the government should immediately revoke the agreement and like before, the Corporation should take full control of supplying drinking water", the SDPI, State President said.
"During the tenure of Late CM J. Jayalalithaa, the minority communities felt safe and their interests were secured. To the contrary, now the minorities are forced to face various problems", he alleged.
He further alleged that even after the public requesting a six months period to review the new Education draft, the government has provided only one month. He condemned that the government should not be hasty in implementing the new Education draft amid such protests and disapproval from the people.
He pointed that "Not only in Northern States, even in South, beef eating people are targeted and assaulted. Such issues that question the very fundamental right of an individual should be discussed in the Parliament."
