Coimbatore : "Land aquisition for Coimbatore airport expansion will be over in a year. After that an International airport with all necessary infrastructure will be built", said District Collector, K. Addressing the women entrepreneurs at the event on "Investment opportunities for women in Coimbatore", the District Collector commended the city of Coimbatore.
"Coimbatore has a unique industrial climate which can accomodate all industrial sectors - micro, small, medium and large corporates. To improve the industrial growth and investment opportunities in the District, the State Government is taking various innovative steps. One such step is the Airport expansion. After years of legal struggle and delays, we can now say the land aquisition for airport expansion will be over in a years time and the expansion process will be expedited", assured the Collector.
"A full-fledged functioning international airport will attract more investors and boost the economy of the district. Since mobility and traffic congestion is a major concern in the city, implemention of metro rail project will help to combat the problem", Mr. Rajamani opined.
Briefing on the welfare schemes for women, the Collector apprised that "With the direction from the State government, the district administration with the help of other government institutions and banks in 2018 has dispersed up to Rs.300 crores to Women Self help groups. For 2019, the process has been kick-started already. Coimbatore with its industrial growth has more opportunities for women, particularly in rural sector."
The Collector opined that "Agriculture is another sector which will attract more investments and job opportinities". He also cited the success of the recent Agri Intex expo held in the city, last week.
Speaking at the event Harjinder Kaur Talwar, National president, FICCI FLO said, “FICCI FLO will act as the thought leader for working women of India, a voice for policy change and a guardian of their interests. FLO’s motto is Power to empower. As FLO aims to empower women economically also, our programs will focus on economic empowerment of women at grassroots, middle & senior levels.”
Poonam Bafna, Chairperson of FLO said, “We have put together an array of events, spread over three days. It will be an extraordinary amalgamation of intellectually stimulating discussions, entertainment, networking and a rare blend of learning sessions to empower women on the investment opportunities in Coimbatore region".
She added that objective of the organization is to encourage and facilitate women to showcase their talents, skills, experiences and energies across sectors and verticals of the economy, for a truly inclusive economic growth trajectory.
