Coimbatore: City Police Commissioner, Sumit Saran on Wednesday distributed body worn cameras to 70 city traffic police men at a function organised here.

The body worn cameras were distributed to the traffic police, under the aegis of “Uyir” organization to ensure transparency while dealing with traffic offences in the busy city roads.

“While on duty, the traffic police men are required to wear this body worn cameras, as it would help monitor the activities of the policemen and the traffic offenders in real time” said the Commissioner.
He added that the recordings of the cameras can be accessed real time and this measure would help control traffic violations, allegations of corruption indulged by traffic police while levying spot fines.

Dr. S. Rajasekaran, Founder of 'Uyir', Deputy Commissioners Perumal, Balaji Saravanan, and other officials took part in the function.
