In the wake of ADMK and DMK MPs raising a hue and cry in the Parliament and stopping its proceedings, the Minister of Communication, Ravi Shankar Prasad announced in the afternoon session that the Postal Department Recruitment Examination which was held on Sunday across the country will not be taken into account. He assured that a re-examination will be conducted in all the regional languages.

The Postal Recruitment Examination which was held this past Sunday had questions only in English and Hindi. Over a lakh applicants from Tamil Nadu were shocked to see the Tamil language removed from the languages in which the examination was held. The examinations are held for positions of postman and four other designations.

Last year, the examination was conducted in 15 languages including Tamil. Tamil Nadu had a notification three days prior to the examination that it be held only in Tamil and English. But, on the day of the examination, the Tamil candidates were in for a shock.

Politicians in Tamil Nadu strongly condemned the move of the Central Government to conduct examinations only in English and Hindi, which was vociferously debated in the State assembly.
