Tirupur: Annapoorni, a resident of Rakkipalayam in Tirupur protested in front of the Tirupur police station (North) demanding that her husband who had allegedly eloped with a woman be traced.
Tirupur: Annapoorni, a resident of Rakkipalayam in Tirupur protested in front of the Tirupur police station (North) demanding that her husband who had allegedly eloped with a woman be traced.
Annapoorni and Senthil Kumar, residents of Rakkipalayam have been married for 23 years. Senthil Kumar had reportedly told his wife Annapoorani that he was planning to start a new business and needed help with funding. Believing him, Annapoorni borrowed money from self-help groups and private funding organisations to help her husband. Senthil Kumar thereafter took the money and eloped with Meenakumari, a resident of the same area, last week.
Meanwhile, the money lenders began verbally abusing Annapoorni demanding their money back. Heartbroken by the turn of events, Annapoorni complained to the Thirumuruganpoondi police station and asked them to find her husband. But since the police there had not taken any action, she was urged to file a complaint at the Tirupur police station (North).
Subsequently, Annapoorni went to the Tirupur Police Station (North) today to lodge a complaint where she was again asked to go back to the Thirumuruganpoondi Police station.
A disappointed and irate Annapoorni staged a dharna in front of the Tirupur Police Station (North). She withdrew her protest only after the policemen at the Tirupur North Police Station ordered the Thirumuruganpoondi police to take immediate necessary action to trace her husband.
