Coimbatore: In a smart move, Head Constable Shekar of C-2 Race Course Police Station traced a mentally-challenged patient Noor Mohammed who went missing from the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital on June 6, by using social media to his advantage. Noor Mohammed was thereafter rescued from the Kottayam police station.

Noor Mohammed (19) a mentally-challenged patient went missing from CMCH after which his mother informed the C-2 police station at Race Course. Shekar, a Head Constable of the C-2 Police Station shared the photos and the details of Noor Mohammed on his WhatsApp group and Facebook account. His friends on both social platforms later intimated Shekar that Noor Mohammed was in Kottayam East police station in Kerala.
Based on the information, the Head Constable Shekar rushed to the Kottayam police station, brought him back to the city and reunited him with his mother. The Head Constable's quick thinking to use social media to trace the missing person was appreciated by the public and Sumit Saran, the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner awarded him a certificate.
