Coimbatore: The Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development and Implementation of Special Programme, S P Velumani handed over a cheque of 15 lakhs from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to the kin of the Ukkadam accident victims.

The District Collector K Rajamani, DRO T Ramadurai Murugan, Tahsildhar Devanandan, Mahesh Kumar and other government officials were also present.
Minister SP Velumani in his address said, "Bairoji Begum from Karumbukadai, along with her 12 family members were travelling toward Palakkad to attend a family function when the Omni met with an accident. Shahjahan, Bairoji Begum, their children Riyan, Sherin and Afna Firja died on the spot and the child Mohammed Rithwan who was admitted to a hospital also died, succumbing to injuries."
The Minister added that six members from one family died, while six other members were seriously injured. He conveyed the TN CM's deepest condolences to the family. A total of 15 lakhs, with Rs.2 lakh for the family members of the dead and Rs. 50,000 for the family of the six members who were seriously injured in the accident was handed over to the kin by the Minister.
