Coimbatore: Based on a tip-off that Islam youth from the city are connected with banned terroist' outfits, Coimbatore city police formed three different teams and conducted a series of raids and investigations here on Monday.
Coimbatore: Based on a tip-off that Islam youth from the city are connected with banned terroist' outfits, Coimbatore city police formed three different teams and conducted a series of raids and investigations here on Monday.

In the recent past, the NIA and the City Police arrested several youth from Islam community here for their alleged involvement with banned terroist' organisations and for planning serial bomb attacks in Tamil Nadu. While investigations are ongoing, the city police claim to have received promising information of involvement of more youth with such organisations.
Acting on the tip-off, three teams of police began raids at Peelamedu, Ukkadam and KarumbuKadai area. Residences of repeat offenders and people involved in posting inflammatory content in social media were investigated.

Among the supects are Auto Fazil of Karumbukadai, the man who was arrested for planning to murder Arjun Sampath of Hindu Munnani and Muhammed Burkhan of Peelamedu.
Also, the residence of Sadam Hussain of MGR Nagar, Ukkadam, who was arrested in the murder case of Farooq, a member of Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam was raided. The police seized a mobile phone and two sim cards from his place.

However, the reason for the sudden raids and investigation and if they had seized any important articles from the houses will come to light only after an official report from the Police department.
