Coimbatore: In view of the forthcoming Aadi Kundam festival at the popular Vanabhadrakali Amman temple, a consultative committee meeting was held in which the police, revenue officials and forest officials took part to review the arrangements to be made.

Over 10,000 devotees are expected to take part in the Aadi Kundam festival which commences on July 23. MP A K Selvaraj, MLA O K Chinnaraj and other officials took part in the meeting.
Crowd control, safety protocols, preventing wild animals from straying into the temple arena and providing basic amenities to the thronging devotees were discussed at the meeting which was presided by RDO Suresh Kumar. It was decided to have more guards do the rounds in the nearby forests to ensure the wild elephants were warded off from entering the temple venue.
Over 500 policemen are to be deputed with 100 CCTV cameras installed to augment security measures for devotees who throng the temple.
Officials have also been instructed to monitor the river flow and alert ground duty officials in the event of flooding to prevent freak incidents of devotees drowning in the Bhavani River, since the temple is situated on the banks of the river, near Mettupalayam.
