Coimbatore : The Karumathampatti police arrested Ranjith Kumar (25) and his aide Abdul Rahman for attempting to kidnap a college girl on Friday.
According to police reports, Ranjith Kumar was in love with a 20-year-old college student pursuing engineering from a college in Karumathampatti here. Due to undisclosed reasons, the girl parted ways with Ranjith Kumar and stopped meeting him.
Frustrated by his lover's decision, Ranjith Kumar plotted a sketch to kidnap his lover.
On Friday, he along with his friend Abdul Rahman were waiting in a car near the college to abduct the girl. As she came near the car, Ranjith Kumar forced her into the car. As the girl cried for help, the passersby and students rushed to rescue her. They also reported the incident to the Karumathampatti police station.
Upon complaints from the girl's side, the Police arrested the duo.
