Police warn taxi driver for sticking bogus 'Government of Tamil Nadu' sticker on car

Coimbatore : The police issued a stern warning to a taxi driver who had a bogus 'Government of Tamil Nadu” sticker on his car.

Coimbatore : The police issued a stern warning to a taxi driver who had a bogus 'Government of Tamil Nadu” sticker on his car. 

According to police, Balraj of Nanjundapuram, a taxi driver used to operate his taxi for government officials. On this pretext, Balraj reportedly stuck the 'Government of Tamil Nadu' sticker with the logo on the windshield of his car. Balraj who got into a verbal duel with an auto driver during peak traffic hours today, allegedly threatened the auto driver by pointing to the sticker and warned that he was on Government service.



However, the police who rushed to spot, upon investigation found out that the driver had misused the sticker on unofficial trips too. The police removed the sticker and warned him not to repeat the offence before letting him go. It is fast-becoming a habit for vehicle users to often resort to sticking bogus stickers denoting Press, Advocate, On Government duty etc to escape from police checks and traffic violations committed by them.
