Tirupur : Alleging that traders are harassed by officials while enforcing plastic ban, Vikiramaraja, the President of Vanigar Sangangalin Peramaippu said that alternatives to plastics should be introduced by the Government in the market before implementing the Law in letter and spirit.

Addressing the media after taking part in the Executive Council Meet of the Traders Federation in Tirupur, Vikiramaraja alleged that the MNC products packaged in plastics keep flooding the market, which however escape the attention of the officialdom.

"Even though the Central Government has promised to simplify the filing of GST, no steps have been taken in that direction. Rental buildings where businesses are run should be exempted from GST. The Government should take measures to protect traders of the country as MNCs are trying to make a big foray into the Indian market,” opined Vikiramaraja.
