Coimbatore: The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind organisation has submitted a petition to the District administration requesting basic civic facilities in Karumbukadai, in Coimbatore.
They handed over the petition to the Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer, Sravan Kumar Jatavath at the Coimbatore Main Corporation office.

In their petition, the members of the organisation mentioned that there are over 50,000 people living in Karumbukadai and surrounding areas. Since residents in the area are having to travel far for even basic facilities, a petition was handed over to the Coimbatore Corporation to make the Primary School into a Higher Secondary School or to build a new Higher Secondary School near the Ukkadam sewage plant. They have also requested for a bank, library, e-library, children's park, primary health care centre and maternity centre for women to be set up in their area.

The members also requested for encroachments in the Karumbukadai region which causes traffic congestion to be removed. They also urged civic authorities to remove encroachments in Noyyal and prevent waste from polluting the river. They have also requested for a home for children with parents affected by AIDS, more ambulances in GH and also for permission to take the corpses of deceased members of their families by their own means of transport.
