The Nilgiris : The District Collector Innocent Divya initiated the Swachh Bharat cleaning drive today in Selas, Coonoor. Addressing the public, the Collector said that it was important for parents to maintain cleanliness to ensure that their children were growing in a safe environment.
The Nilgiris : The District Collector Innocent Divya initiated the Swachh Bharat cleaning drive today in Selas, Coonoor. Addressing the public, the Collector said that it was important for parents to maintain cleanliness to ensure that their children were growing in a safe environment.
The Collector also participated in the Grievance Day and Public relations and Planning Camp held at the Sengalputhur tribal village belonging to Hulical Town Panchayat in Coonoor. She encouraged the tribals to lead their lives with confidence and advised pregnant women to approach doctors during their pregnancies. She advised the tribals to give up their superstitions and approach doctors and officials to resolve their difficulties.
Innocent Divya also announced that roads in the region will be laid at a budget of Rs.50 lakhs with the approval of the Forest Department and renovation of tribal residences will be done at a budget of 11 lakhs. When the tribals requested that they wanted new houses built instead of renovated ones, the Collector accepted their requests and assured them that after proper documentation, 22 houses will be built.
Community certificates, address proofs and ration cards were also issued at the event. The District Collector accepted the tribals' petitions and ensured immediate action. District Revenue Officer Nirmala, Assistant Collector Ranjeet Singh, Coonoor Forest Officer Gowtham, Coonoor Tahsildhar Dinesh and other officials were also present.
