This is the second English fiction penned by the former Commissioner of Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation. His first fiction ‘Once Upon an IAS Exam’, became a best seller in Amazon and was also translated into Hindi. Vijayakarthikeyan has also written five books in Tamil.
Releasing his book, Vijayakarthikeyan said that the story was a medical-bureaucratic thriller, where sudden deaths of people in a hospital create unrest.
Talking about authoring a book that is related to medicine and bureaucracy, two fields from which he is from, Vijayakarthikeyan said that the story had nothing to do with his personal life, but was from random news articles and day-to-day happenings.
When asked about how he found time to author books despite being a busy IAS officer, he informed that he made sure he found some personal time for himself besides spending time with his family after work. “Everyone should have their personal time and space to help one relax. If it is a hobby that could help you grow, it is super good,” he said.
With decreasing reading habit among today’s youth, Vijayakarthikeyan said that it was important for parents to encourage their children to read books and spend less time with social media. “I am who I am because of my reading which started at a very young age. Reading is a good habit, which could help you in many ways,” he opined.
He later autographed the copies of the book bought on the day by readers and offered paper bags along with the copies of the book.
