Coimbatore : Manuneethi Mugam was held at the Municipality Primary School at Maruthur village in Mettupalayam, Coimbatore. Led by the District Collector K Rajamani, welfare schemes worth 58.94 lakhs were distributed to 204 beneficiaries.

The Divisional Revenue Officer Suresh, Public Welfare Officer Amuthan, District PRO R Nallathambi, Assistant Director Survey Thavamani, Deputy Director Horticulture Umarani, Tahsildhar Shanthamani and other officials were present.
"The Tamil Nadu Government has come up with many beneficial schemes for the people where the officials themselves meet people in person rather than keeping them waiting. The Government has also ensured that people are made aware of the schemes by constantly approaching the public in all rural and remote areas. 'Manuneethi Mugam' thus helps in bridging the gap between officials and people," opined the District Collector.
Public grievances are addressed in Manuneethi Mugam once a month in all the rural areas headed by the District Collector in the presence of officials from various Departments, to address people's concerns. Petitions were received from people in Maruthur village 15 days prior to the camp and on the day of Manuneethi Mugam, the Collector handed over the petitions to the concerned officials for immediate action. These camps are being organised to enable Government schemes to reach people in the most remotest of villages.
Many Government schemes are aimed for the welfare of people in the lower economic strata of society. The schemes include gold for wedding, the Muthulaksmi maternity scheme and a two-wheeler scheme for working women. He also mentioned that Tamil Nadu has allotted maximum funds for education.
