Coimbatore : Residents of Pillayar Kovil Street, Chinnavedampatti (Ward No. 42) on Wednesday petitioned the Corporation Commissioner to stop a group of people from another street in their area who had encroached their road by 15 ft to construct a temple.
The petitioners urged the CCMC Commissioner to clear the temple which was being built on their road and highlighted that the other group had encroached about 15-20 ft on their street.

A local resident Kaviarasu complained that a group of people from other streets in Chinnavedampatti had encroached onto their street to build a Velayattu Mariamman Temple. The residents also alleged that this reduced the road width from 30 ft to 10 ft. They complained that the temple construction on the road blocked ambulances and other four-wheelers from entering Pillayar Kovil Street.
The residents also told the CCMC Commissioner that they had informed the temple administration about the issue but their request fell on deaf ears. They urged the CCMC Commissioner to take immediate action against the encroachers.
