Protests were held against the alarming rise of honour-killings in the State and representatives of various organisations demanded that the Government ought to grant relief funds and welfare schemes for the victims' families, immediately.

The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi staged a protest today in front of Power House in Sivananda Colony. Over 200 cadres participated in the protest, led by the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi's General Secretary, Sinthanai Selvan.

They demanded that an immediate law ought to be enacted against such honour-killings, declare TN's West Zone as an honour-killing prone area and mete out suitable punishment for those perpetrating such honour-killings.
