Coimbatore : Protesting against the possible passage of the Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill which is stuck in Parliament, the members of the Road Transport Labourers Union attached to CITU staged an agitation in front of Power House in Sivananda Colony.

Led by its District President, P Venugopal, the agitators said that the Bill would only favour the multinational companies and would affect the livelihood of 5 crores of ordinary labourers.
Demanding that the Bill be withdrawn, agitators raised slogans against the insurance hike, streamlining of toll fee on highways, bringing petrol prices under GST and demanded to check the high-handedness of RTO and Police officials. S Murthy, the President of Road Transport Labourers Union addressed the protesters on the ill-effects of the Bill which was poised for passage.
