Coimbatore : Foresters of the Boluvampatti Forest Range on Tuesday arrested four men for hunting a wild boar here.
According to source, the accused identified as Palanisamy (38), Karuppaiya (39), Rangasamy (40) and Rangaraj (35), had reportedly killed a wild boar near Mullankadu and had tried to cook it on a patta land nearby.
Based on a rip off, a team from the range reached the spot around 11.00 am and detained the men involved.
They were fined a total sum of Rs. 40,000 after being booked under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
Meanwhile, foresters of the Madukkarai Range detained on Monday detained two men, who had attempted to sell a live black kite near Karpagam College.
The bird had been reportedly brought from Mannarkad. The accused A. Fazal Ahammed (22) and B. Sanjay (22) both from Palladam were fined a sum of Rs. 8000.
The bird was later released inside the Madukkarai Forest Range.
