NCSK member provides financial aid of Rs.10 lakhs to deceased sanitary worker's kin

Coimbatore: In a meeting held at the District Collectorate for officials of all the Departments, the District Collector K Rajamani announced that the families of the deceased sanitary workers who had tragically lost their lives inhaling toxic fumes in a pig farm while doing their job, would be given Rs.30 lakhs from the Panchayat Public Fund.


Coimbatore: In a meeting held at the District Collectorate for officials of all the Departments, the District Collector K Rajamani announced that the families of the deceased sanitary workers who had tragically lost their lives inhaling toxic fumes in a pig farm while doing their job, would be given Rs.30 lakhs from the Panchayat Public Fund.

As a part of it, Jagadish Hiremani, a member of the National Commission for Safai Karmacharis (NCSK) ber handed over a cheque of Rs.10 lakhs to Sundari, the wife of the deceased worker, Rajappan.

The District Collector cited that after they receive the certificates of the other two victims, compensation will be handed over to the respective families in a day or two. The Superintendent of Police, Sujith Kumar, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Balaji Saravanan and other officials were present.

In a shocking incident, three sanitary workers died a tragic death on June 27 after inhaling toxic fumes while cleaning a sewer on a pig farm in Lakshmi Gardens, Keeranatham, Saravanampatti which was owned by Subramaniam. The deceased were identified as Rajappan, Vediyappan and Vediyappan. Jagadish Hiremani had met the families of the deceased at the Government guest house and also visited the farm where the three men had lost their lives.
