Water level gradually rising in Siruvani reservoir

Coimbatore: With monsoon showers engulfing the Ghat regions in the catchment area of the Siruvani reservoir, the water level is witnessing a gradual rise over the last few days.



Coimbatore: With monsoon showers engulfing the Ghat regions in the catchment area of the Siruvani reservoir, the water level can be seen gradually rising over the last few days.

The water level, which stood at 865.40 m above sea level on Friday, has gradually increased up to 867.25 m as, on Monday, due to rainfall. The catchment area has been receiving an average of 110 mm rainfall per day in the last four days, with the maximum recorded on Saturday (176 mm). The water treatment plant in Siruvani had drawn 32.50 million litres per day (MLD), on Sunday and 30 MLD on Monday.

The level of water has increased from 6.56 ft as of Friday to 12.63 ft on Monday, which indicates it has doubled in four days. The overall depth of the reservoir is 49.53 ft. The foothills is also receiving ample rain at an average of 30 mm per day, in the past four days.
